Academic Honesty
Plagiarism
is usually defined as (a) stealing or passing off as one’s own the
ideas or words of another, or (b) using a creative production without
crediting the source. Plagiarism (literary theft) and other forms of
dishonest behavior will not be tolerated. All students are expected to abide by the Fullerton College code of conduct. Cheating belittles the perpetrator, other students who are making an effort to learn, the integrity of the course, as well as the instructor. Students who are caught cheating will not only fail the course but also be reported to appropriate Fullerton College administrators.
Please don’t cheat—it’s not worth it.
• Don’t copy entire paragraphs from books
• Use the Internet to research your topic and gather information, but don’t download materials from the Internet and resubmit it as your work
• Don’t submit materials that have been prepared by others
• Don’t use cell phones, notes, aids, or the help of other students on tests and exams in ways other than those expressly permitted by the instructor
It is almost impossible to write about history by relying entirely on your own thoughts and ideas. Nevertheless, there are several ways in which you may give credit to someone else’s ideas. For example, while paraphrasing (restating someone else’s ideas in your own words), use phrases such as “According to XYZ,” or insert a footnote to acknowledge the source of a particular statement or thought.

course format will include lectures, class presentations, and class
discussions. Audio-visuals such as films and music will also be
incorporated.
Course Materials: MyGateway
All course materials, such as syllabus, lecture notes, assignments, study guides, grade sheets and essay/presentation topics, will be posted on MyGateway. All students are required to check both sites before each class and download course materials.

ADA Statement
Fullerton
College is committed to providing educational accommodations for
students with disabilities upon timely request by the student to the
instructor. Verification of the disability must also be provided. The
Adaptive Services Center functions as a resource for students and
faculty in the determination and provision of the accommodations.
Wait Time for Late Instructors
It
is my intention to arrive on time and begin instruction promptly.
However, if, due to unforeseen emergencies, I do not arrive at the
scheduled start time for class, students are to remain in class for at
least 15 minutes before leaving with no penalty for absence or assigned
work due for that class meeting, unless otherwise notified by the
Division of Social Sciences.
Class Etiquette
Please
come to class on time. Punctuality is very important since tardy
entrance “scenes” are distracting to the instructor and students alike.
For every two tardy episodes, one absence will be registered toward the
two absence limit. It is imperative that you attend the entire class
meeting. Students who leave class early without previous notification
to the instructor will not be given credit for class attendance.

• Be respectful of others
• Don’t chat with friends in class or via text messaging
• Allow 24 hours for me to respond to your email queries
