The focus of this class is to develop an integration of self awareness and the world of work followed by a matching up of this information into a life goal resulting in career/life style that fits your individual self.
Activities include C value clarification C personality testing C interest inventories C recognized theories in career development C decision making skills C skill identification C networking C world of work information There will be several suggestions for students to visit campus and community resource centers.
The three major objectives of this course are: 1. Self assessment/self awareness 2. Career awareness/World of work 3. Decision making skills and goal setting

Counseling 151 is a 3 unit course that in addition to counting towards an AA/AS degree, also transfers to CSU and fulfills Area E of the General Education Requirements for CSU. This course is rigorous, requires critical thinking skills and ability to communicate in oral speech and writing; it is also fun, stimulating and will provide you with much self satisfaction. There may be some discomfort associated with the self assessment process but we will only dwell on and distinguish the positive aspects of oneself. There is no critical judging allowed during the self awareness process. This course is offered on a letter grade (A-F). All assignments and quizzes are weighted equally except the final is worth slightly more. A positive and courteous attitude can turn -=s into +=s. Excuses not accepted. American Disabilities Act: any student with a identified disability is eligible to be registered with the Adaptive Learning Resource Center. If you are a disabled student and you have a need for special services, it is your responsibility to alert your instructors. Adaptive Learning Center is in the library. Academic Honesty: (see FC catalog for specifics) Students are expected to abide by ethical standards in preparing and presenting materials which demonstrates their level of knowledge and which is used to determine evaluation and grades. Such standards are founded on basic concepts of integrity and honesty. In summary, students shall not plagiarize, cheat or furnish materials or information in order to enable another student to plagiarize or cheat.
