Instructor: Dr. Barbara Storm
On-line courses taught at FC by this instructor are intended to expand the use of technology and to provide another form of access to our courses . These courses contain the same material that is used in the traditional classroom (in-person) courses and course requirements and evaluation tools are parallel. This class is NOT designed to >teach= you how to use the computer nor is it intended to teach you how to do research on the Internet. To participate in this class, a student must possess basic competency in E-mail, in using the Internet and in basic word processing. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE IF you think it will be easier than the traditional class; it is not. If anything, the participation requirement is even more exacting and rigorous and time lines are strictly imposed and followed.
It is essential that you become familiar with the computer resources on FC campus. Currently several computer labs are available for currently registered students. The FC library is another resource. Also your community public library usually has computer access. Being away from a computer or having a broken home computer is NO excuse for not logging on or for not completing an assignment or not taking a quiz. There will be specific log on requirements noted for each class. You will need to log-on to the CE 6 course in order to read the bulletin board, announcements and calendar postings and complete all required coursework. In addition to logging on regularly, you will need to interact with your fellow classmates using the Bulletin/Discussion Board. Again, you are enrolled in college courses with college standards. There are no exceptions for NOT keeping up and NO special circumstances will be provided if you miss information or class assignments. There are NO quiz or assignment make ups. however, a student may miss one or two assignment/quiz and if they do well on their other assignments and quizzes they may still pass the class successfully. Do not ask me what your grade is.....you can access your own progress chart in CE 6. I grade on the curve so there can be A’s and B=s and D=s and F=s. All assignments are weighted equally; although the final exam may help boost or lower your final grade.
