The Workforce Center has grown by leaps and
bounds over the past few years. Our staff take great
pride in assisting students with their job search.
Last year alone we posted over 2200 jobs from local
employers and provided students with 11,000 job referrals.
My goal is to have as much current job market information as
possible, assist students with creating a resume that will
highlight their skills and experience, and coach them on
their interview skills. Lately, local employers have
complained that employees in general are seemingly unaware
of proper office attire and business etiquette -
professionalism has taken a back seat to personal
expression. This semester I hope to offer workshops on
these important subjects. With competition so high,
job seekers need to understand that polished "soft skills"
could be the deciding factor in getting that job.
The
Workforce Center gives students the tools they need to find
great jobs!
- Job Postings: New jobs
are posted daily on the job board, the Internet and in
the
Workforce Center office.
- Full-time, part-time,
temporary, seasonal, and internship positions: Our
local employers offer a wide variety of opportunities for
almost every student.
- Federal, state, and county job
announcements: We post opportunities from local
cities and school districts.
- Resume and cover letter
writing assistance: Just call or stop by to make an
appointment with a specialist.
- Free resume faxing:
That's right, FREE for students registered with
the Workforce Center.
- Mock interviews: This is
an excellent way to prepare for an upcoming interview.
See how well you perform under stress!
-
Directory of job search websites: We help you
search using
MonsterTRAK and other job search websites. Come see
us for your school registration password.
-
Plenty of Student Resource
Material:
On interview techniques, resume and cover letter writing
and other relevant topics.
-
Job Fairs every semester: Our next Job Fair is
scheduled for April 5, 2006. This is a great opportunity
for students and employers to meet in person!
