For PHOT 100 (online only):  You may use ANY camera, since you
may e-mail your photographic assignments or send them (prints, or
on CD) through the mail.

For PHOT 101:  At the first class meeting, bring note-taking
materials; at the second class meeting, bring the film camera you
plan to use.

PHOT 100 Course description:
  
Students are expected to spend a minimum
      of 6 hours a week, on reading, studying, taking photographs, etc.

      Students may use any camera, although, more control over the final
      picture is possible with a camera that has adjustable aperture, shutter
      speed and focus.

      Students' photographic assignments include, but are not limited to,
      composition, portraiture, depth of field control, motion depiction,
      candids of strangers, landscapes, architecture and
a photo essay. 
      Twelve critiques, sixteen discussion posts, three quizzes and the Final
      Examination round out the course.    
                                            
PHOT 101 Course description:
  Each class section, meets for 2 hours of
      lecture, 3 hours 40 minutes of lab a week.  Students are expected to
      spend a minimum of 4 hours a week, outside of class time, to read,
      study, take photographs, visit a photography exhibit, etc.

      Using their own 35mm film cameras, students will expose and develop
      conventional black-and-white film, make a variety of prints in a
      traditional darkroom, dry mount and present their photographs.

      Students' photographic assignments include, but are not limited to,
      composition, portraiture, depth of field control, motion depiction,
      back lighting, candids of strangers, nature, and
using the studio. 
      Ten critiques, six worksheets, three quizzes, a Gallery Report, a
      Final Portfolio and the Final Examination round out the course.
Materials for PHOT 101: 
- 35mm film camera (any camera that can be loaded with 35mm black-
   and-white film; better, but not necessary, that it also has adjustable
   aperture, shutter speed and focus)
- conventional 35mm black-and-white film
- 8"x10" RC (=resin-coated) photographic enlarging paper
- preserver pages to hold 35mm negative film
- 11"x14" mount boards: black, white or gray colors only
- binder to keep notes, handouts
