Accounting 101A - Online - Fall 2010

CRN 10001 Section OL1 - Financial Accounting - Online

This is a beginning accounting course which meets all transfer requirements to four-year colleges and universities and provides a foundation for advanced work in vocational accounting or other branches of business administration.The text is Accounting Concepts & Applications, 11th edition, Albrecht, Stice & Stice - Cengage Learning / South-Western Publishing Company 2011. ISBN13: 9781111624514 with accompanying: K&A General Ledger software to accompany the 11th Albrecht edition and Cengage access code. These are all shrunk wrapped together in the bookstore under CRN listed above for $262.50. You also need a calculator, pencil, straight-edge, gummed erasure, pad of three or four column accounting paper (two or three students may share a pad), and two Scantron Forms 882-E for the mid-term and final.

Recommend the eText, digital version, especially if you are not planning on taking Managerial Accounting. The digital version of the text including Cengage access can be ordered at CengageBrain for $89.49 using http://tinyurl.com/28y35cb and immediate access is granted. You may print desired chapters without an additional charge. The K&A CD software is also available at http://tinyurl.com/28b59lz for $26.49 and will be shipped and arrive within 7-10 days. Buying a used text without Cengage access will usually result in paying $100 too much overall. CAUTION: K&A will not work with MAC.

WARNING - Traditionally this is a 4 unit, 5 hours lecture per week for the 17 1/2 week course.

On-line it will require a minimum of 11 –15 hours per week. If you have a choice, you should take this class live. This is a tough, time consuming, class under the best of situations. You need to be self-disciplined to keep up with the course, computer knowledgeable and flexible enough to deal with all of the various electronic media and willing to meet with the instructor during office hours as needed.

QuickBooks Accounting 107 - Online Spring 2010 Completed!

Computerized Accounting with QuickBooks Pro
A hands-on course that introduces students to accounting application software. Students will learn how to use QuickBooks software to record sales, purchases and payroll transactions and prepare financial statements and other reports to be utilized in a small usiness environment. The text used is Computerized Accounting with QuickBooks Pro 2008, Kathleen Villani and James B. Rosa - EMC Paradigm 2009.
Prerequisite: None

YOU MUST HAVE QuickBooks 2007 software or higher, preferably 2008, PC version vailable at home or at work or you must use our computer labs for this online course. The software does not come with the textbook. Sorry the MAC version or the ONLINE version of QuickBooks will not work for this course. See the syllabus below for more information.
