Accounting 101A - Online - Fall 2009
CRN 10004 Section OL1 - Financial Accounting - Online
Orientation is an online PowerPoint Presentation
This is a beginning accounting course which meets all transfer requirements to four-year colleges and universities and provides a foundation for advanced work in vocational accounting or other branches of business administration.The text is Accounting Concepts & Applications, 10th edition, Albrecht, Stice & Stice - Cengage Learning / South-Western Publishing Company 2008. Do NOT buy the used copy of this text WITHOUT a Cengage Access Code. The Access Code purchased separately could cost approximately $100 additionally. The Klooster & Allen GL Software CD Rom can be purchased separately for about $23. See new Online Orientation.
Prerequisite: None
WARNING - Traditionally this is a 4 unit, 5 hours lecture per week for the 17 1/2 week course.
On-line it will require a minimum of 11 –15 hours per week. If you have a choice, you should take this class live. This is a tough, time consuming, class under the best of situations. You need to be self-disciplined to keep up with the course, computer knowledgeable and flexible enough to deal with all of the various electronic media and willing to meet with the instructor during office hours as needed.

Computerized Accounting with QuickBooks Pro
A hands-on course that introduces students to accounting application software. Students will learn how to use QuickBooks software to record sales, purchases and payroll transactions and prepare financial statements and other reports to be utilized in a small business environment. The text used is Computerized Accounting with QuickBooks Pro 2008, Kathleen Villani and James B. Rosa - EMC Paradigm 2009.
Prerequisite: None
YOU MUST HAVE QuickBooks 2007 software or higher, preferably 2008, PC version available at home or at work or you must use our computer labs for this online course. The software does not come with the textbook. Sorry the MAC version or the ONLINE version of QuickBooks will not work for this course. See the syllabus below for more information.
