MATH 30 Geometry Geometry explores the relationships of figures in space. It is one of the oldest branches of mathematics. Euclid of Alexandria, born about 320 BC, is considered the "father of geometry." His book, Elements, which set the principles( axioms) of geometry and created the Euclidian method of proving mathematical theorems, is still in use today and is considered the most successful mathematics textbook of all time. (Wikipedia). In this course, we will explore logic, constructing geometric figures and proving geometric theorems. Be prepared to think outside the box! Geometry is an entirely different experience than algebra. PLEASE BRING THE COMPASS AND PROTRACTOR TO THE FIRST CLASS! These are available at any drugstore, Big Lots, or Office supply store. They are also available in the school book store. Students on financial aid in good standing can get an advance on their aid check to buy the textbook. Visit your financial aid office for details. Homework will be assigned the first class and it is imperative that you do not fall behind!
