Math 20 Online Course Information

 

Fall 2010

Welcome to Math 20 Elementary Algebra Online!

This course uses MyMathLab, an online Course Tool available from CourseCompass.com.  No textbook is required.  The textbook content is available online by buying the online program.

Available at the bookstore as an Access Kit or online at www.coursecompass.com.

Your Course ID is necessary to register for MyMathLab.  It will be sent to your email address through MyGateway by August 10th.  You must register for the course through Fullerton College in order to receive credit for any work done in MyMathLab

This is not a self-paced course.  Students will complete work according to the schedule which is on the last page of the syllabus and on the course calendar in MyMathLab.  The online website will be available starting  August 10, 2010 for those wishing to get a head start.  Homework will be due the first week!

Students on financial aid in good standing can get an advance on their aid check to buy this online program.  Visit your financial aid office for details.  Homework will be assigned the first class and it is imperative that you do not fall behind!

 

There are 3 on campus events. 

bulletOptional Orientation (Highly Recommended for New MyMathLab Users):       Tuesday, August 17th, 7:00 - 8:30 pm at Fullerton College in Computer Lab Room 611L.  We will explore the website, learn how to enter mathematical symbols and expressions and participate in a Virtual Office hour.  Students must have an fc student account to use the lab computers. Students should have purchased at the bookstore or be ready to purchase the MyMathLab access code online (valid credit card and email address).
bulletMidterm on Tuesday,October 19th:7:00 - 8:40 pm in Room  713 at Fullerton College.
bulletFinal on Tuesday, December 7th 7:00 - 8:40 pm in Room 713 at Fullerton College.

Fall 2010 Syllabus

To enroll in another MyMathLab course based on the same textbook:

You do not need a new student access code to enroll in a course based on the same textbook as your current course. In any of the following situations, all you need to enroll is a new Course ID from your instructor:

bulletYou are switching to a different section of your course
bulletYou are re-taking the same course
bulletYou are enrolling in the next semester of a course that is taught over multiple semesters
  1. Log in to www.coursecompass.com.
  2. Click the Enroll in a New Course button, and then click Continue.
  3. Re-enter your password and click Log In.
  4. On the Account Summary page, click the Enroll in a New Course button.
  5. Enter the new Course ID from your instructor.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete enrollment.

TIP: When you try to log in and enroll in the next semester of your course, you may see a message saying that you cannot log in to CourseCompass because your most recent course has ended. As long as you are enrolling in another course based on the same textbook you used last semester, you can still log in and enroll in the new course, as follows:

  1. Click the link contained in the message to your personal account summary.
  2. Enter the same login name and password you used last semester, and click Log In.
  3. On the Account Summary screen, click Enroll in a New Course.
  4. Enter your instructor's Course ID for the new course and click Next .
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete enrollment in your new course.

Connection speed
CourseCompass requires an Internet connection with a minimum connection speed of 28.8 kbps (kilobits per second). The faster your connection speed, the faster you will be able to view this site and some of your course's content. If you are experiencing slow download times, you may need a faster connection. In this case, contact your school's technology department.

Browser settings: cookies and Javascript options
CourseCompass uses both cookies and JavaScript technology. Both of these features must be turned on in your browser, and are usually turned on by default. See your browser Help for instructions on how to view or change these browser options.
