Frequently Asked Questions

  • When are internship courses offered?
    • Internship courses are offered in the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Please check the Fullerton College course schedule to see which courses are offered.
  • What is the BUSINESS Internship Course?
  • I already have an internship opportunity; why must I register for an internship course?
    • There are many benefits to registering for an internship course at Fullerton College, including, but not limited to, the following:
      • Receiving unit credit that will be reflected on your transcripts.
      • Working with the Internship Program Team will ensure that the internship site and student are following the state and federal policies and procedures.
      • Internship faculty will provide a guided learning experience and ensure your learning objectives are met at your internship site.
      • For unpaid internships, most internship sites will require the intern to have workers' compensation liability insurance. 
        • Student interns who are registered in an internship course at Fullerton College will be covered by the North Orange County Community College District for workers' compensation liability if they participate in an unpaid internship.  
  • Are international internships allowed?
    • No, Fullerton College Internship Program does not give credit for participating in an international internship.   
  • Can international students participate in the Internship Program?
    • Yes! International students can participate in the Internship Program. There is additional paperwork that needs to be completed before registering for an internship course and participating in an internship.   • How many hours do I need to complete my internship?
    •  If the internship company requires that you complete a set number of hours, please consider the following:
      • Take into account your course load and family, community, and other obligations that you may have to ensure that you can complete the hours and manage your time in a balanced way.
      • Use the units and hours information below to learn how many units you will need to register for the internship course.
    • If the internship company does not require you to complete a specific number of hours, please consider the following:
      •  Take time to connect with your internship site supervisor to establish a work schedule that works well with your schedule while also allowing enough time to complete the internship
      • Once you have decided on how many hours to work, you are responsible for registering for that number of units. Please see the units and hours information below
